After years working at the intersection of coaching, leadership development, learning and development, and talent strategy, I found that individuals and organizations could still stand to 'be better.'
Throughout my career, I kept seeing some common themes:
Through years of personal experience, certifications and overall life lessons, I started 'Be Better' for those who want to do exactly that. What started as a quest to build leaders and not managers has provided me with the opportunity to build my business and help my clients be the best versions of themselves.
My name is Jamie Heagy and I live in Tampa, Florida with my wonderful husband and adorable puppy. Besides my strong desire to help others 'be better,' I enjoy being in the sunshine, working out and playing tennis. I love being active within the community and look forward to meeting new individuals who embrace the idea of continuous improvement.
Although organizations have the best intentions for their programs, many believe that training and development is a ‘one size fits all’ approach that will ‘fix’ any issues. Instead of determining what priorities are for the firm, as well as their future leaders, programs miss the mark because ideas and philosophies are vague, generic and difficult to tie to company goals and values.
A few principles I implement into programs to encourage behavioral changes include:
Coaching is an incredibly personal and important aspect of what I do, so I approach each conversation with the utmost respect and concentration. I want each person that I coach to know that they are my priority throughout our session and that I will do my best to help them develop insights and awareness to move forward with whatever they’re working on.
